PHR Discussion Of Project Findings At 3rd Annual Conference
SAN FRANCISCO, June 2, 2007 — As Personal Health Record (PHR) Marketplace Continues To Grow and Merge
into Mainstream, Peoplechart PHR Projects Demonstrate Value for Select Populations and Care Settings in Third Year.
During 2007, Peoplechart’s various PHR Projects continue to make progress. The agenda for this year’s conference
promised to be as informative as the last with study sites, consumer organizations, and supporters in attendance by
phone or in person:
- University of Chicago Hospitals
- Queen’s Medical Center of Hawaii
- Benjamin Rose Institute
- National Kidney Foundation of Hawaii
- National Consumers League
- National Council on Patient Information and Education
The Benjamin Rose Institute presented some early results on the case managers use of Peoplechart PHR in caring
for older adults with mental health problems. The National Kidney Foundation of Hawaii summarized their approach
to measure the use of PHR on kidney patients described in their funded application. Finally, research scientists
and site leaders from the University of Chicago Hospital and Queen’s Medical Center discussed the PHR initiatives
at their respective sites (lung transplant and breast cancer).
"Congratulations to all the teams for their hard work in bringing the benefits of PHR technology to a variety
of patient segments and care settings. Our work is helping the industry learn more about the patient-initiated model
and its role in improving quality of health care, advancing health IT; and strengthening patient engagement," said
Megan Mok, founder and CEO of Peoplechart.
Some of the earlier PHR results from the study sites produced the statisitics from which to frame two Call-For-Actions
at a public hearing held by the American Health Information Community (AHIC), at the Consumer Empowerment Workgroup
on 9/18/06, Washington DC.
